A lot had been happening in my life that seemed daunting and hopeless and I kept thinking about what I would tell someone I love in the same situation. “I love, love, love The Wizard of Oz. I always have. There are so many good metaphors for life in that movie. But finding everything you want to be already in “your own back yard” is pretty laughable and unrealistic. So, what if Dorothy came home and didn’t really find everything she was looking for and wanted to go back to Oz? “Home” has a special place in everyone’s heart, but I sometimes believe that staying there and never seeing anything new might leave a void that “home” cannot fill.”

When I wrote this song I couldn’t stop thinking about my nieces and how life circumstances can be so difficult, but that I want them to always know how valuable they are to me and this world. It may sound cheesy but we all need each other and we each have a purpose.”
